A super easy Sweet and Sour Pork served with stir fried vegetables and steamed rice. Ready in less than 30 minutes!
After you've made this Sweet and Sour Pork you'll be skipping the takeaway version in the future! The secret is the cornflour and egg coating which makes the pork super crispy in the pan.
A homemade sauce is always a good idea in my books and this one is no exception. Made with basic pantry staples (the pineapple juice comes from the canned pineapple pieces) this sauce is easy and tasty.
How to make Sweet and Sour Pork:
Start by coating the pork all over in the cornflour. Crack in the egg, mix together then set aside. Make the sweet and sour sauce by whisking together all the sauce ingredients. Trim and slice green beans then place in a small bowl or jug and cover with boiling water. Roughly chop up capsicum.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan. Add the pork pieces and fry in batches until crispy on both sides. Remove from the frying pan and set aside. Wipe any excess oil out of the frying pan.
Drain the beans and add to the pan with the capsicum and pineapple pieces. Stir fry for a few minutes until they start to brown. Pour in the sauce and let it simmer with the veggies, stirring for a few minutes. Once it starts to thicken, add the crispy pork pieces back in and quickly coat in the sauce.
Sprinkle over spring onion and sesame seeds. Serve immediately with hot steamed rice.

Common questions about Sweet and Sour Pork:
Can I use other vegetables? Absolutely. If you have some frozen veg in the freezer, feel free to use those up. Otherwise fresh broccoli, carrot and red onion could all be substituted in.
Is this meal gluten free? Yes! Cornflour is gluten free. Just make sure to check your sauce bottles for traces of gluten if you are sensitive.
