Mexican style chicken burger patties served in a sesame bun with homemade chipotle mayo, avocado and salad greens.
Why not mix up the old homemade burger and give these Mexican Chicken Burgers a go? The homemade burger patties are packed full of flavour using a blend of Mexican herbs and spices.
Chicken mince can be found in most supermarkets. If you can't find it there, your local butcher might be able to make some for you. These patties are made with onion. I like to grate mine so it's almost undetectable for my kids!
How to make Mexican Chicken Burgers:
Mix all the ingredients for the patties together in a large bowl. Divide mixture into 4 and shape Into large patties about 2cm thick. Chill until ready to BBQ or pan fry.
Mix the mayo and chipotle sauce together and chill until ready to serve.
Grill the patties for 4-5 minutes each side in a hot frying pan or on the BBQ. Once the patties are grilled, place a slice of cheese on top of each one. Toast the burger buns. Spread the avocado over the base bun and place the grilled pattie on top. Add the tomato, red onion, lettuce and spread the top bun with chipotle mayo.
Burgers are such a great family meal. If you love them as much as me, check out my recipes for Crispy Fresh Fish Burgers as well as my insanely good Big Mac Style Sauce.
Common questions for Mexican Burgers:
Can the patties be frozen? Yes. Uncooked patties can be frozen between sheets of baking paper as long as the mince was bought fresh (and hadn't already been frozen).
Are these too spicy for children? Not at all. The flavours are family friendly.
