You can't beat these delicious and easy Chocolate M&M Cookies! Perfect for school lunches and weekend treats. This recipe makes a big batch, so you can cook some and freeze some!

These M&M Cookies are so tasty and the perfect balance of crispy outside but soft and chewy centre. This recipe is one of my boys favourite baking recipes, we make most school holidays. Because it is a big batch, we cook half and freeze half of the mixture for the school lunchboxes.

Ingredient notes:

- M&M's: Bring colour, texture and little chocolate surprises that make cookies extra fun and irresistible.
- Brown sugar: Adds moisture, which helps create that soft, chewy centre everyone loves.
- Egg: Acts as a binder, helping the dough stay cohesive so your cookies don't crumble.

Step by step instructions:
Preheat oven to 170°C fan bake. In a mixer beat butter and sugars until smooth, add eggs and vanilla, mix until combined

Sift in flour, cinnamon and baking soda. Add milk then fold together. Pour in M&Ms and stir together then roll into balls (or a log) and chill for at least 20 mins.

Remove from fridge and place on baking paper lined tray and bake for 15-20 mins until turning golden but still soft in the centre.

Hint: If you don't chill the dough before baking they will spread very quickly, more like a Subway cookie so give them lots of space on the tray.
Recipe FAQs:
Yes! Freeze the dough balls in a snap lock bag or roll the dough into a log and freeze in baking paper. Then when you want to bake more cookies, remove from freezer, unwrap and cut chilled/frozen dough into 2cm chunks with a large sharp knife.
Depending on the size of your oven and oven tray, I would put no more than 12-14 cookies on one tray.
Storage:
Store any leftover M&M Cookies in an airtight container in the pantry for up to 1 week.
The cookie dough can be frozen in a log or rolled into balls in a sealed bag or container for up to 3 months.

Sarah says
Hi, I’ve not frozen cookie dough before- does it need to be defrosted before cooking or do you cook from frozen? Does the oven temp/cooking time need to be
altered? Thanks
VJ cooks says
Hi Sarah, yes it's such a great hack! You can either defrost them completely before baking, or bake from frozen and increase the cook time a little. They are ready when they just start to turn golden.
Liana Williams says
Hi Sarah, you can cook these from frozen or you can soften them a little before hand, either or!
Rosie says
Hello how many cookies can I make with this mix ?
VJ cooks says
I get about 30 cookies from this recipe.
