These chewy, chocolatey Magic Cookies are packed with quick oats, coconut, and slivered almonds. Bound together with sweetened condensed milk and studded with dark chocolate, they're incredibly easy to make - no butter or eggs required! Perfect for lunchboxes, afternoon tea, or a quick homemade treat.

Ingredient notes:

- Quick oats: These provide a lovely chewy texture to the cookies. The also help to bulk the recipe out. See the FAQs below for alternatives.
- Sweetened condensed milk: This is what creates the 'magic' in the cookies! The sweetened condensed milk is a binder that holds all the other delicious ingredients together.
- Dark chocolate chips: The dark chocolate compliments the sweetness of the cookie so well.

Step by step instructions:
Preheat the oven to 180°C fan bake and line two trays with baking paper. In a large bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients. Pour over the condensed milk and mix well.


Use a cookie scoop or spoon to form balls of dough (about 2-3 tablespoons each). Place them onto the prepared trays. Press in any bits that are sticking out and flatten the tops slightly.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges and tops start to turn golden brown.


Remove from the oven and leave to cool on the tray before transferring to a wire rack or container. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

To make Magic Cookies gluten free you need to replace the oats. Options include 1 cup of quinoa flakes, 1 cup of buckwheat flakes or ½ cup coconut chips + ½ cup quinoa/buckwheat flakes.
Storage:
These cookies will keep well in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
Top tips:
- Swap almonds for cashews or peanuts, or leave the nuts out altogether.
- Use desiccated coconut instead of shredded coconut if preferred.

These were devine! I did 1T heaps and made 30 cookies on one tray. I doubted they were gonna work out half-way through the cook as they looked a bit dodgy but once completely golden they were fantastic! Thanks VJ 😀

Made these again today but cooked them a little longer (14 mins as my oven is a bit stuffed) and they were even better than last time. Sweet, chewy, crunchy and super moreish. We can't stop eating them. Super yum! Our household loves your recipes VJ. Thank-you so much!!! 😀
